Can I bring a friend, or person I am caring for?

No, only people in a caring role registered with Carer Gateway can attend.
If I am a Young Carer, can my parent or guardian attend with me?

No, to encourage peer connection, the activities are more succesful with the young person attending independently.  
Who should I contact if I am running late, or unable to attend a workshop I'm booked in for?

What should I expect in a Facilitated Peer Support Session?

Facilitated Group Sessions are a safe and positive space where you can get connected with other carers in your area.

If you are ready to talk and share your experience that is great, but if you just want to listen and get to know others in your own time we can support that.
What is Carer Gateway?

Carer Gateway is the national service for carers, funded by the Australian Government. It includes a website and phone or online services for carers to practical information and face-to-face services, to assist and support them in their day-to-day roles.
Who can access the Carer Gateway services?

Carers of all ages can access Carer Gateway services. This support is available to anyone providing unpaid care for older people, people with chronic illness, people with disability, people with addictions or people living with mental illness. Irrespective of your residency, visa or citizenship status, it is available to all carers in Australia.  
I'm new to this, how do I register with Carer Gateway?

You can access Carer Gateway services in a number of ways, including by phone and online.

By calling 1800 422 737 Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm and selecting option 1, you can speak with your local Carer Gateway service provider. hey will talk you through the registration process and start the planning process. The process helps our staff learn more about you and your caring role so they can match srvices to your individual needs.

You can also ask someone to call you back at a convenient time.
Do I have to be a registered carer to register for any Carer Gateway event?

Yes, however, on occasion we will run bigger events (such as fair days, exhibitions, and more) and will extend invites out to family, friends and non carers who would like to attend.
What does an 'expression of interest' workshop mean when I register?

An 'expression of interest' is yourself registering your interest to attend a workshop. If you have been allocated a spot in your desired workshop, an email with attendance confirmation will be sent to you. 
How will I know if I have been accepted into a workshop?

You will receive an email confriming your attendance with all required information such as: meeting time, meeting location and requirements of what to bring, should they be needed.
What if I can no longer attend a workshop?

If you can no longer attend your workshop, you can cancel your registration through your profile page. Alternateively, you can also contact the relevant Peer Support team member, who can assist you in canceling your registration. 
Does the password for my account expire?

No, your account password will not expire. 
Is there a special criteria when making a password?

The password must be a minimum of any five characters. There is no other special criteria as to what these characters must be. 
Can I reset my password if I forget it?

Yes. To reset your password, visit the account page under your profile and select the reset password tab. You will then be asked to set a new password for your account. 
Can I view the events I have registered for?

Yes. To see your events you have registered for, refer to the 'dashboard' section under your profile settings.
